In July 1997, I collaborated with Hiroki “Ichiro” Tozu, a writer I knew at the time, and added a melody and music to a poem of the same title that I found in the creative writing section of his website. The composition is centered around the piano and decorated with small wind and string instruments.
I remember being sympathized his high school life and creating it with a great deal of emotion.
While composing this piece, I came up with two different melodies, and since it was difficult to determine the superiority of either, I took on the challenge of using both in a song. In addition to having a melody and accompaniment that could work as a piano solo, I intertwined a completely different melody with the pan-flute and strings, so that both can be heard as the main melody.
