Composed in November 5, 1997.
This is a small piece for piano, clarinet, and a small string ensemble, depicting the gradual sunrise in the dawn sky. I actually created this piece at dawn, playing the keys while listening to opinions over a long-distance telephone call.
I don’t intend it that way, but I am often told that it has the feel of a Carpenters’ song.
The MP3 format file of this song is not a direct recording of the original YAMAHA MU90 creation. It was re-recorded and re-played in 2021 using VST Instruments that more closely resemble the live sound.
Since the left hand arpeggio pattern and tempo changes are slight different from the original one, the length of this song, which was originally 2 minutes 59 seconds, is now 3 minutes 08 seconds.
