Composed on December 31, 2000, for a New Year’s greeting card page for 2001, aiming for a Japanese or Gagaku feeling. The music consists of phrases suitable for New Year’s Day, cherry blossom viewing season, and so on.
I tried to reproduce the gentle undulation that is typical of Japanese instruments, while creating a fresh sound that could be found anywhere, but is not actually. I did not use the sound of Sho (Japanese instruments), but you may hear it as if it existed.
